Namaste.
The Advaita Vedanta Ashram Europe in Corinth, Greece will be a place of beauty and simplicity. An oasis of peace where you can live in harmony with nature and the natural laws of the universe.
Our ashram will follow the tradition of Advaita Vedanta revitalised by Sri Adi Shankaracharya in the 8th century, a tradition that has seen an unbroken lineage of realised sages from that time until the present day.
Visitors to the Ashram will have the opportunity to study the profound teachings of Advaita Vedanta from a qualified Teacher, as well as engaging in Meditation classes and retreats and Traditional Yoga classes and retreats.
The Ashram will be a self-sustaining, spiritual, Eco-community, a sacred village and a place of refuge for those like-minded beings who wish to immerse themselves in nature and a pure spiritual vibration.
All are welcome, even those who don’t necessarily want to engage in the spiritual programme. It is enough to want to live a peaceful life in nature, to live in accordance with the Ashram’s code of conduct and to help and support the community by contributing through seva.
A major part of Ashram life will be welcoming visitors from all over the world; inviting them to experience the benefit of living a simple and pure life in nature and in a blessed environment.
The Ashram is ideally located in an isolated area amongst the tree-covered mountains and forests of Corinthos, yet is only a two-hour drive away from Athens airport.
After arriving in Athens, international travelers may first wish to spend a day or two exploring Athens’s rich cultural and historical heritage, abundant in the city centre and encapsulated in the dominant Acropolis, the ancient citadel located high on a rocky outcrop above the city of Athens.
Corinthos itself is an area of great historical and archaeological importance and includes famous sites such as the Temple of Apollo, the Temple of Hera, Ancient Corinth, and of course the Corinth Canal. Also, the world-famous Ancient Theatre of Epidaurus.
As well as historically having been a place of high vibrations, Corinth is also presently home to other spiritual centres such as the Karma Berchen Ling Buddhist Centre – it is no coincidence that the Corinth area attracts such peaceful spiritual communities.
Upon arriving at the Ashram, visitors will be transported into a magical world of peace, tranquility and spiritual nourishment, far from the stresses and strains of city life. Here you will be able to truly relax amongst like-minded people and have perfect conditions for deepening your spiritual practice.
The Ashram is 800 metres above sea level in the ancient region of Feneos, surrounded by a circle of mountains and close to many forests. It is just 5 kilometres away from the well-known, paradisiacal Lake Doxa.
The Ashram shall diligently provide free food to all residents and visitors as an embodiment of the Hindu principle of 'annadanam,' which considers food as a sacred offering and emphasizes the importance of selfless service (seva).
Accommodation at the Ashram will be offered at a minimal cost. Working visitors will receive free accommodation on the proviso that they will help for a few hours each day in the running and maintenance of the Ashram. Guests attending classes and retreats will pay a small fee to cover costs. Optional donations towards running costs are very welcome, though in no way a prerequisite.
We are always on the lookout for people with skills and qualifications that can be put to good use around the ashram, such as those with knowledge of permaculture, bio-gardening, construction skills, etc., but anyone who wants to support our project and help us grow is welcome, regardless of qualifications.
If you want to spend time in beautiful nature in a pure, spiritual environment, be part of a spiritual community and help us with our noble vision, we very much look forward to welcoming you to Advaita Vedanta Ashram Europe.
