With the Blessings of Their Holinesses the Jagadgurus of Sringeri, and with the Blessings of Sacchidananda Acharya's Guru, Swami Paramarthananda, Advaita Vedanta Ashram Europe is trying – for the first time in history – to establish a pure and authentic Ashram in the west that is connected to the holy lineages of Advaita Vedanta.
As mentioned, we have just put our first home on the property and the ground has also been prepared for planting. The next essential step is to bring solar power to the land. This will help us to host weekend events and welcome volunteers to live and work at the Gurukulam.

We are creating a Gurukulam — a traditional spiritual learning space — in the mountains of Greece, rooted in the teachings of Advaita Vedanta and blessed by the lineage of Sringeri Sharada Peetham and Arsha Vidya Gurukulam.
Our Guru, Sacchidananda Acharya, a disciple of Swami Paramarthananda, received Deeksha (initiation) from His Holiness Sannidhanam of Sringeri. This Gurukulam is an offering to that sacred tradition — and now it needs your light.
In keeping with the ancient tradition, all teachings at the Gurukulam will be offered freely, and our entire Noble Vision will be sustained solely through voluntary donations. Here is an account of our recent meeting with PA Murali, the new CEO of Sringeri Math.
On Wednesday the 2nd of May, we had our first meeting with the new CEO of Sringeri Math, PA Murali. Sacchidananda Acharya talked at length about our Noble Vision to establish an authentic Gurukulam in Europe for the first time in history and how needed it is.
He mentioned how none of the so-called Ashram’s in Europe are teaching the methodology of Sravanam, Mananam and Nidhi Dhyasanam as prescribed by the Upanishads, and all are charging for the teachings, thus again going against the Holy Scriptures.
Sacchidananda Acharya emphasized that in establishing our Ashrama we wish to follow the prescriptions of Sringeri Math to the letter, so people will realize that what we offer is pure and authentic, and by Teaching free of charge and in accordance with Upanishads, that we will offer something much needed in Europe.
To illustrate the point that we want to establish an authentic Gurukulam, Sacchidananda Acharya asked PA Murali if he could offer us a priest from Sringeri to come and live with us in Greece to conduct Vedic rituals, and whether he could also send us a person to manage our gosala, which in Sanatana Dharma is the place where the cows are cared for and worshipped.
Sacchidananda Acharya said that we wish to dedicate the rest of our lives to propagating this Holy Tradition and that nothing could be more worthy or more fulfilling. He said that he is convinced that Sringeri Math will be so pleased with our efforts that they themselves will suggest that Advaita Vedanta Ashram Europe becomes a branch of Sringeri Math.
He also mentioned our wish for complete financial transparency and that he himself is not part of the NPO and is in no way connected with its finances. He simply wishes to share Teachings which he always offers free of charge.
Sacchidananda Acharya also mentioned that our Noble Vision has received the Blessings of various Acharya’s: from the Puri Sankaracharya, Kanchi Kamakoti Sankaracharya and Swami Sakshatkrtananda the head Acharya of Swami Dayananda’s Ashrama in Rishikesh.
In particular, our Noble Vision has received the Blessings of his Guru, Swami Paramarthananda - who is sure our Noble Vision will succeed because he believes our intention is pure - and the Blessings of Their Holinesses; Mahasannidhanam and Sannidhanam.
It was Mahasannidhanam, who in 2019, first gave to Sacchidananda Acharya His full Blessing and support for the establishment of a pure and authentic Gurukulam in Europe. Later, in 2021, Sannidhanam spontaneously offered Deeksha to Sacchidananda Acharya during his first visit to Sringeri Math, next to one of the staircases, outside the Vidyashankara Temple! In 2023, Sannidhanam gave us two Blessed Murthis to be placed in our upcoming Temple!
He also mentioned that our efforts to promote the Teachings of Advaita Vedanta online were going well. We have nearly 400 subscribers on YouTube, approximately 3,500 members in our Facebook group and our other social media outlets are growing.
Sacchidananda Acharya mentioned that he has shishyas in thirteen different countries, that despite the fact that he has no wish to accumulate followers and he regularly turns people away for not following the Guru Parampara’s instructions through him! He is only interested in those who have a genuine hunger for Moksha Self-Realization / Self-knowledge.
However, despite an increasing interest in our Noble Vision and the spiritual backing of various Acharya’s, Sacchidananda Acharya made the point that we still require financial support. The exception to this was another miracle, when a person who was looking for a quiet place to meditate in nature, found our website and donated over 5,000 euro towards the cost of a fence for our 6,000 square metre property in the mountains. The construction of the fence will begin on the 10th of May.
Finally, to show beyond any shadow of a doubt about his wish for authenticity and complete transparency, Sacchidananda Acharya offered PA Murali the position of either Vice-president or President of Advaita Vedanta Ashram Europe.
PA Murali listened intently to the various points Sacchidananda Acharya raised, asked some relevant questions and seemed very warm to the idea of the establishment of an authentic Gurukulam in Europe for the first time.
With regards to Sacchidananda Acharya's request for a priest and a person to care for the cows, PA Murali said yes, reaffirming what Dr. Gowrishankar had said for the last three years, that it is easy for them to offer both.
With regards to the position of Vice-president or President, he said that he will ask His Holinesses Sannidhanam and Mahasannidhanam and follow Their guidance.
All in all, it was a very positive meeting and we felt that PA Murali was very happy with our endeavors and has a genuine interest in our Noble Vision.

We have great news!
Due to a successful donations campaign, we have now acquired the total sum (5,500 euro) needed to start building the fence around the property. Construction should be able to start shortly. Thank you to all donors!
A trip is planned for Sacchidananda Acharya, Andrew Boyle (the president of the Ashram), and Victor Mattsson (director: member of the Board of Directors) to visit India for 10 days at the end of April. We will visit one of the main Maths of Advaita Vedanta (Sringeri Math), as well as meeting Swami Paramarthananda (Sacchidananda's Guru).
As with previous trips, the purpose is to seek advice and guidance in both spiritual and practical matters related to the establishment of our Ashram. At Sringeri Math, we will meet with the current CEO of the Math Mr. PA Murali, and a Director of our NPO (Non-Profit Organization), who is also the former CEO of Sringeri Math, Dr. Gowrishankar. Furthermore, in order to further strengthen our connection and relationship with our Holy Lineage (Guru Parampara) we will ask to receive the Darshan of H.H. The Sringeri Jagadgurus in order to receive once more Their blessings and guidance.
The free online Vivekachudamani classes will resume after the trip to India, most likely on Monday the 13th of May. More information will be posted on our social media channels closer to the date.
